Indigenous North
The most notable region to find Indigenous cannabis outlets in the north valley is along what is known as "Green Mile" west of Vernon, BC through the OKIB (Okanagan Indian Band) community. Here you will find a number of family-owned and operated cannabis outlets that operate within the band's sovereign legislation, evaluation, and taxation policies. In Canada, each band was given the freedom to make its own business decisions and do not need Health Canada or Canada Revenue Agency approval or overreach. As a result of this, you will find products "on the rez" that you won't find anywhere else. On the flip side there is no mandated quality assurance testing as you will see in licensed shops.
